Immigration is always a hot topic, but the debate is often stale. Undocumented workers, broken borders, and going to the back of the line don’t just describe a broken system- they’re the language of a broken paradigm. The Mexico-US Solidarity Network invites you to take a breath of fresh air. Join Olegario Velásquez Vicente as he speaks about his life in Guatemala, his experience as an immigrant in Chicago, scenarios for immigration reform, and the structural explanations for immigration all too often ignored.


Egyptian Solidarity in Cleveland, Ohio

The 52-year-old Westlake resident and leader with the Greater Cleveland Immigrant Support Network and the Egyptian Association of Greater Cleveland told about 175 people at a pro-democracy rally in downtown Cleveland that 30 years of dictatorship under Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak must end. All Egyptians need the freedom people in America enjoy, he said. IMMIGRANT MARCH 2010

More than 75 people gathered Saturday morning to protest the treatment of immigrants, both legal and illegal.

The May Day rally started near the West Side Market at West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue and ended with a march and reception at The Storefront several blocks away.
